Leader Nitra loses to Levice
Top ranked Nitra recorded its fourth loss on the court of seventh ranked Levice on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Levice 78-63. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Nitra. The game was mostly controlled by Levice. Nitra managed to win third quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Levice forced 24 Nitra turnovers. Strangely Nitra outrebounded Levice 35-22 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Keaton Grant who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. Croatian-Slovenian forward Stipe Modric chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Robert Vaden who recorded 26 points and Australian forward Ater Majok added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Newly promoted Levice maintains seventh place with 8-11 record. Nitra at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Levice are looking forward to face higher ranked Handlova on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nitra will play against Nova Ves and is hoping to win this game.
